After spending a week in the mountains this winter and realizing the large increase of about $50 in my electric bill I am searching for alternatives to electricity for heating my home in the mountains, I have experimented with many of them already, old kerosene heaters smoke, old
ReplyDeletewoodstoves work better, but smoke unless the wood is really cured well and kept dry, propane works well, and is not as expensive as electric, but to maximize it would be the way to go, maybe a masonry type propane stove? The other answer is Solar, but as I have seen, there can be weeks in the mountains in winter without sun, thats a problem to figure out too!
You'll figure it out! Wood stoves are so variable, there are some that are super efficient and well worth the bucks but they won't be on craigslist on a regular basis...and you have so much wood there! Warms ya twice!
