Back to the Beach!

I've moved back to Pompano Beach, rented a small apartment, loving it, just getting settled in, doing some fishing, bout 4 items left at the condo to move and I'm done. Reading a book written by some guy Baltasar Gracaian, he wrote it backin 1647. It's called the Art of Worldly Wisdom, its a great read so far!

Allisquito!

I saw this picture by Barry Brandhorst and it reminded me of a great story that happened a coupla years ago. I took a buddy of mine with me and we drove from Florida after work on a Friday night to my place up in the NC mountains. We got there totally beat after a 12 hour drive and at the time I had a old camper trailer there with a bedroom and a fold out couch that doubled as a bed, we were tired as heck when we arrived and it was freezing cold and pitch black, we set up the couch by the light of a lighter and I just flopped on the back bed and my buddy got the fold down couch, after about an hour or so I kept hearing him slapping himself and saying ow! Ow! I yelled "Be Quiet" and went back to sleep, only to wake up a coupla hours later at first light hearing it again, well, I got up and finally found some candles and the sun was coming up so he got up and when we could finally see the couch was covered with the biggest ants I have ever seen and they had been eating him alive all night, I never had a bite and couldn't understand what he was complaining about, (I thought maybe it was the itchy wool blanket) till I saw the ant swarm! He was covered with big red welts, and was totally pissed because I couldn't stop laughing, and so we headed to town for bug bombs and hot coffee...

Great DIY RV Website

I recently found a site I love, its "http://cheaprvliving.com/index.html" Awesome tips on RV, Boat, and multiple vehicle conversion ideas. Even Budget guidlines by experienced "Road Warriors" The options are endless. As retirement approaches, and although I own property, I see it as a great low cost way to make long cross country trips. Check it out!

Lake Istokpoga Observatory

My Astonomer neighbor Near Lorida, Florida on Lake Istokpoga

I was searching for a webcam on my nearby Lake and found this Observatory nearby, I have to say, I'm super impressed, I could see the stars very clearly when I camped overnight there so this is a natural! I like my little patch better all the time!

My first night in Lorida...

I have decided the 2 hour trip up to the property is a nice short trip, so, I decided to try it this past friday with a twist, I figured I might as well set up a tent and stay overnight to see how it looked at night. Well, it was great! I got there and set up camp, planted the three trees, (Areca Palm, Oleander and another Bouganvilla Bush) I had brought to hopefully bring a bit of shade and give my property some character. I Would have loved to build a fire but the cuttings from having the lot bushhogged left carpet of tinder and I had exactly I gallon of water, so, no fire this time..heres some pics, I was pleased to see within the short walk I took in the evening (unfortunately forgot to bring the camera, but not my trusty machete!) the following wildlife: An Armadillo, 3 cottontail jackrabbits, an alligator in a small canal, a wild turkey, lots of of wild hog tracks which I heard the owners of during the night, a red-tailed hawk fly overhead with a snake in its talons, and raccoon track, owners not found.

Another peice of Dirt

I am always looking for something, well, everything actually, and a few months ago while surfing the web I found a little parcel of land in central Florida for sale, for $1,500 bucks so I jumped on it. Its a long story, but it ended with a guy needing some money, and my luck, it was tax return time! But, here it is. It sits between an orange grove, a cow pasture, and a 5 by 10 mile lake. I'm Excited, so, I got it mowed so I could get in there and plant some trees, its like a Blank Palette, but, so is my checkbook, so, this may take awhile...

December Continues

Here we are its Mid December, not alot to say just that I will be headed to NC on Christmas Day, I got a great deal on Allegiant into spartanburg, I am tempted to park some old car there near the Airport, it would be awesome to just take a cab a Bang, right to the mountain, how feesable would that be?? Well, Im meeting a truss guy on the 29th to discuss stacking 3 sets of trusses atop each other to build the A-Frame Shell, (have I written this already?) anyway, it's seems like its goona be very expensive, and I have no $$ but, I have gotten this far and its been ok, so, damn the torpedoes and global economic meltdown, I'm DOIN IT!

A Postcard From the "PEARL"

I checked my mail the other day and found a postcard from my old pal, the teardrop trailer PEARL sorta...The day I sold it the slightly overweight woman seemed nice enough and I told her she could use the tag to get home and either send it back or trash it,(I never thought she would really use it) of course, no good deed goes unpunished, the Florida turnpike has cameras that take pictures of toll runners and I have recieved two toll violations so far with pictures my trailer and old tag on them from cypress creek to Kissimee St. Cloud! Good luck PEARL...
